A small framed, contemporary, textural, expressionist and semi abstract seascape painting. Rustic in its charm, full of movement and atmosphere. An original painting from the Coastal Collection by Janet Gammans.
 
Natural colours of turquoise blue and burnt umber tones with flecks of gold leaf were used to achieve this stunning abstract of the sea meeting the shore. The rocks are finished in gloss varnish to reflect the wetness of the surface whilst the background is finished with satin.
 
One of my favourite subjects to paint and inspired from having spent time at the coast, 'living the life' as they say. I find that using acrylic paint with different mediums gives me the effects I need to convey the aspects of uneven, coarse, natural beauty of the landscape. So in my interpretation of painting a subject, I try to maintain the essence of what first inspired me to paint it.
 
It has been painted on professional archival art board and framed with solid wood frame painted warm white with satin sheen. I have used 6mm MDF for the backing and all fixtures and fittings are in place and therefore ready to hang. Any setting is ideal for this work of art and I'm often asked where they might suit an interior. I like to hang them, low next to a coffee table or dresser near light adding interest and focus. Maybe a little area that needs brightening to lead the eye to a particular place of your room. It will give a certain impact to any area of your home or work space.
