'Rock Pools' and seashells by the waters edge. A coastal study, small, framed, original painting  which is a contemporary piece of fine art. It has been painted using delicate overlays of thin paint washes in an expressionist way creating great depth and texture. Natural colours of blue, brown, beige and warm white hues have been used to obtain this slightly impressionistic, semi abstract style. 
 
This painting, for me, evokes memories of times gone by, spent at the British Cornish coast, a place I love. I wanted to recreate the elements of sea over rock to express how water distorts imagery and at the same time, giving it a translucency and depth by colour overlay. The seashell, I added for interest mostly because mussels have such beautiful and interesting form to capture on canvas.
 
The artwork has been painted on professional primed art board and mounted on 6 mm MDF. The total size is 34 cm square (the actual artwork measures 20 cm square). The frame is made from solid wood and painted with warm white satin paint and because of the neutral and natural colour scheme, will suit practically all home or work interiors to enhance small areas of interest in any room.
