A large, semi abstract, contemporary and dramatic seascape painting in acrylic medium on professional, square, gesso primed canvas. Cloudy sky over breakwater on the seashore depicts this marine scene which is full of creative nuance and texture throughout. Painted onto large square cotton canvas and sealed with a satin varnish giving the painting a subtle sheen and glow to the finish.
 
I have used mostly neutral colour tones of greys, blues, burnt umber, ochre with subtle shades of light pink to describe the land, sea, rock and vast cloudy sky . It has been painted in a slightly impressionistic way which is full of expression and painterly technique throughout. This artwork has depth and drama creating a sense of open space, perspective and draws on the senses to imagine, presence of place, in time.
 
It has been inspired by my time spent at UK coastal locations, primarily the Cornish and Norfolk coastline, studying texture, contour, colour and shape of the land amongst the elements of the changeable British weather.
 
The artwork is deep in tone with a rustic and modern quality. I find that using acrylic paint with different mediums gives me the effects I need to convey the aspects of uneven, coarse, natural beauty for a landscape such as this and am able to work with immediacy, giving impact to convey a sense of mood which was present at the time of painting it.
 
 
It has been left unframed for you to decide the frame to reflect your interior, whether home or your work space. It will suit either the contemporary frame or the more traditional choice.
