'Alight' is a beautifully atmospheric coastal, semi abstract painting on canvas. A large framed seascape work of art in acrylic medium.
 
It is a modern, contemporary landscape in it's design with an impressionistic quality. For colour, I have chosen a turquoise, ultra marine blue, white and brown palette. I used delicate shades of blue/grey for the sky with added drama to the overcast clouds directly above, and a darker tone for the birds flying in the sky which also illuminate them against the lighter clouds. Plains of golden light sand in the middle ground with a 'painterly' expressionist style of work in the foreground using splashes of white and burnt umber to suggest a rustic countryside. I would like to convey to the viewer a sense of 'being' within the space on this temperate, bright and fresh morning, which is how I felt at the time of painting.
 
The artwork has been painted on stretched primed cotton canvas. The chunky solid wood frame has a smooth warm white coating, the face measuring 4 cm. It is ready to hang with all fixtures in place. Due to the natural tones, of both the frame and painting, the image would suit most home interiors and enhance large areas of interest to create an eye catching feature and interesting focal point.
